Jono has taken the cafe by the scruff of the neck and come up with the goods. We are proud to say that we are open and ready to satisfy the hungriest of belly's.

Now making yummy wood fire pizza's, fresh juices and serving up a great italian blend coffee.

The Island Cafe is now working the dough to bring to you Wood Fire Oven pizza's.

The menu will feature all your classic style pizza's plus some vege alternatives.

Under the watchful eye of Jono, the Cafe is slowly transforming to offer a much wider selection of tasty, healthy food as well as all-time munchies to satisfy the hunger.

Yes, healthy can taste good.

2010 Hoscars Awards

Hostelworld.com, the leading online hostel booking website for backpackers, runs an award ceremony for the best hostels around the world. The Hoscars as they are called, was this year to take place in England @ The Brewery, London on Feb 11th and what better two beautiful ladies to represent us than Fi Lilley & Amy Golding.

We were up for Best Hostel in Indonesia and just being nominated was a great honour, well winning would be better.

There are over 100+ Indonesian hostel/ hotel's listed on hostelworld. So up against a lot of competition and being only a year old, was not sure how we would we fare.

I'm please to say that the latter occurred and we walked away with the prize of "Best Hostel in Indonesia 2010"

Warung Asia - Great Thai food in a quite backstreet in Seminyak near Double 6. Very reasonably priced with a cool beachside ambiance this should be high on anyones eat list. Don't miss the fish curry or pad Thai, and wash it down with a strawberry juice.

Warung Sobat - All time food joint on Batu Belig, whose reputation speaks for itself. Always packed to capacity Sobat is famous for its great food and ridiculously cheap prices. On any given night expats and locals will be enjoying the delights of this warung. I cant go past the beef kebabs or sizzling steak. Both are absolutely delicious and embarrassingly cheap. They also do Italian and Indonesian food of equally high quality. Very few tourists know of this well kept secret spot. Surprisingly, closed Saturdays. So book ahead.

Cafe Bali - This is not your usual Bali style joint. With a really stylish and eclectic decor, a great European/Asian menu, super cool wait staff and its fair share of beautiful patrons, CB is more of a night out than a meal. You cant go past the kick-ass cocktails (the frozen margarita is especially exciting) and the food never misses the mark. Try sharing the 'mixed dessert for two' with a loved one or friend, then kick on at the bar for a few.

Sea Circus - For a little indulgence, you have to try here. Renown for its amazing party's, Sea Circus is the perfect start to a great night out. From the food, their cocktails and great staff, this is fine dining without the price tag. Try the Salt & Pepper squid or Honey Roasted Pumpkin Risotto & top it off with the Chocolate Mousse (Best in Bali) Wash it all down with a Signature Sharer Cocktail (I go for the Pow Wow) then onto Potato Head or The Cave for a boogie.

Biku - This is a hidden jem, that is not so hidden these days. Opp Potato Head, The Javanese style bookshop/ restaurant located in Seminyak is fast becoming one of the places to hang. Try the Mie Goreng (Best in Bali) or rock up Sunday for High Tea. Yes, that's right, tea and scones!

Trattoria - Simple Italian fare at its best. The endless crowds are testament to the food, with pizza and pasta the main act. The vibe is frenetic with the dozens of staff running around trying to marry pizza with persons, with the odd bottle of plonk to boot. The desserts are worth saving some room for with the creme brulle and tiramisu a personal fave.

Ocha's Warung - An upmarket warung right on the corner of Jalan Legian and Seminyak Rd (Dhyana Pura) that serves good local food minus the dreaded MSG. Breakfast is good with imported coffee squeezed out of a real coffee machine and eggs done just they way you like em. To round it out they offer free wi-fi if you bring your own compy. Due to its location, price and general goodness, there is no better place to lunch when you are on a serious shopping mission.

Potato Head - The newly opened Potato Head in Seminyak is a step up into a new era in the local bar scene. You can kick back, cocktail in hand on the giant day beds or poolside whilst taking in the fantastic sunset views Bali has to offer. Bring your sunnies, bust out a cute dress, and be prepared for some all time cocktail lounging.

Ku De Ta - Up until recently this was beyond doubt the coolest sunset location in Bali. This is where anyone who is anything wants to be seen. late afternoon will see all types mixing it up to the famed sunset soundtrack and cocktail list. Girls in bikinis, mafioso looking guys smoking cigars, mandatory sunglasses and designer threads make this world renowned bar a must visit for anyone to Bali. Be warned that cocktails are expensive but not so much that you cant afford one or two whilst you take in the decadence around you.

Sea Circus - Located just down the road from Ku De Ta, Sea Circus always has something happening. Sunday brunch and beats for the hangover cure or kicking on there Friday night at the bar. Great drinks, food, music and people. Great place to get cosy with a loved one, or just hanging with friends. Keep an eye out for the parties. Quite an event every time.

Cocoon - Opening last year, Cocoon is the first real offer of coolness to the Legian area. Located opposite Legian Beach on Double 6, Big sofa beds, sweet beats, beautiful table service and expansive cocktail list are a winning formula. Get in early to get a good position and live large.
